ShieldMe is actively developed and tested on top of DD-WRT and OpenWrt.
It goes without saying, that your router must run either of them to support ShieldMe.
However, keep in mind that it is up to you to get either of them running on your router device!
OpenWrt and DD-WRT are open source firmware developed and designed for specific router models and used as a replacement for the inconsistent manufacturer’s stock firmware.
Check this page to see if your router supports DD-WRT.
Check this page to see if your router supports OpenWrt.
Generally, to have your router run either firmware, you have 2 options:
  1. Do it yourself by following official steps:
    • Follow the official DD-WRT install instructions yourself found here
    • Follow the official OpenWrt install instructions yourself found here
  2. Get it running on your router through a third party service if you’re not feeling too brave

Other router firmware (including factory default)
